Tuay Tung Ice Cream – a cute Chinese-style dessert cafe on Banthat Thong Road
With the weather flipping between hot and cool, let's beat the heat, quench our thirst and refresh ourselves with some homemade ice cream. We recommend Tuay Tung Ice Cream, a stylish Chinese-style cafe on Banthat Thong Road serving sweet, delicious treats. We tried it and loved it – it's seriously good.

This is another dessert shop Meeting Point recommends, with a huge menu. The Chinese characters on the neon sign mean "Tuay Tung" (cups and tubs), which is the shop's name. The logo is five circles representing the five ice cream tubs at the front of the shop.

Sweet tooths will love this place. We'd seen reviews for ages, so today we finally came to try it. The shop serves homemade ice cream in lots of flavors, like peanut brittle ice cream and "school Milo" ice cream – wow, they all look so good. Even better when served with steamed mantou, fried mantou, cream dip or silky milk pudding. We're still dreaming about it – so sweet and smooth. You can choose sets, too.

The desserts here are just sweet enough, very moreish and delicious. The atmosphere gets a 10/10/10 from us: a beautiful shop with a stylish, unusual Chinese vibe, and the dishes are beautifully presented and very tempting. If you're around Banthat Thong Road, you really have to try it – highly recommended.
Let's look at what we ordered.
Set Pudding Ice Cream – 79 baht
This set comes with fresh milk pudding and one scoop of ice cream; extra toppings cost 10 baht more. Totally blissful – the mantou is crispy outside and soft inside, served warm with cold ice cream, which is a great match. This plate disappeared first because it's so tasty. A perfect combination we'd love you to try.

Fried mantou with ice cream and Taiwanese pearls
Wow, this looks amazing. In this set the pudding is well made, soft and silky with a gentle flavor, and it goes really well with the ice cream.
Brown sugar milk tea
This brown sugar bubble milk tea is on the very sweet side – even for us, and we like sweet things, it was a bit much. It works better alongside the other desserts, and it's not that it isn't tasty. If you're with friends, we suggest ordering a tangier tea to cut the sweetness and sharing.
If you just want ice cream, that's available too: homemade ice cream is 55 baht per scoop, in lots of flavors such as chestnut, Taiwanese milk tea, Japanese purple sweet potato, peanut brittle, pink milk with red bean, black sesame soy milk, school Milo and ume plum sherbet. We want to try them all – tasty, stylish, unusual and unlike anywhere else.

Tuay Tung Ice Cream is open daily from 14:00 to 23:00, and from 12:00 to 23:00 on Saturdays and Sundays. If you stop by, you have to try it – you'll be hooked. If you come in the evening, be prepared to wait a little, because it gets really busy, so come early. With such a big menu, you may need to queue, since nobody orders just one thing. If this branch isn't convenient, there are several others, including Rangsit and Ratchaphruek – try whichever is nearest.
The Banthat Thong area is super hot right now, with lots of new shops opening. If you visit, there are plenty of restaurants you can't miss – and having savory food without dessert just feels like something's missing. For dessert, we recommend Tuay Tung Ice Cream. We were impressed and will definitely be back.
