Ba Hao Tian Mi: a delicious Chinese-style dessert cafe in Yaowarat.
When you think of Yaowarat, you probably think of Chinese food, right? Well, today let's try some desserts and tea instead. In this article we are taking you to Ba Hao Tian Mi, a Chinese-style cafe with tasty sweets in Yaowarat. Let's get started.

Last weekend we had the chance to wander around Yaowarat, and this time we stopped at another very popular Chinese-style cafe for desserts and milk tea: Ba Hao Tian Mi. It is at No. 8, on the same soi as Texas Suki in Yaowarat. Today we want to tell you about the delicious milk tea and puddings we tried, as well as the atmosphere inside.

The story behind the name
Ba Hao Tian Mi is the sister shop of Ba Hao in Soi Nana, a Chinese-style cocktail bar and hostel that was one of the first places in Bangkok with a real Chinese atmosphere, and a big success. Ba Hao Tian Mi was reimagined as a shop for clear, Chinese-style puddings, with tea drinks that are good for both body and mind. The words "Tian Mi" come from "tian mi mi", which many people may recognise from Teresa Teng's Chinese song of that name. "Tian mi mi" means "sweet as honey".

Atmosphere and menu
The most eye-catching feature is the entrance, a round arch like the doorways of old Chinese houses, with the name Ba Hao Tian Mi in neon lights above the round door. Inside, the cafe is decorated with Chinese-style furnishings, such as round tables and chairs and carved terrazzo patterns. The menu focuses on desserts and milk teas, and the shop is known for its Chinese-style puddings and drinks. Recommended items include goji berry pudding, black sesame, bubble tea and matcha red bean.

Our favourite
Besides the puddings, our favourite is the Hong Kong milk tea. It tastes great: not very sweet, with a slightly bitter finish and a strong, clear tea aroma, just like real Hong Kong milk tea. So satisfying, and paired with a pudding, it is a perfect match.

If you get the chance to explore Yaowarat, don't forget to try the puddings here. They are cool and refreshing, perfect for beating the heat. There are also other branches at Bang Na, The Circle Ratchaphruek, Central Chidlom and Central Ladprao. Try whichever is closest; we are sure you will love it.
