Ha Tien Cafe: a chic vintage cafe in Tha Tien
If you love vintage-style cafes, Meeting Point is taking you to a hugely popular spot on Rattanakosin Island that you shouldn't miss: Ha Tien Cafe, a chic vintage cafe in Tha Tien. Lovely atmosphere and, most importantly, really delicious cake!

Cafe hoppers, don't miss this one. Ha Tien Cafe is beautiful, with a vintage look mixed with antiques. It has three floors, all open to customers. On the top floor you can step out onto the balcony, though it isn't decorated.

We personally love the atmosphere inside. It's a chic vintage cafe, almost a hidden one tucked into an old building. From the outside it looks like nothing special, but step inside and wow, it's packed with art and collectibles, with great photo spots in almost every corner. There are also replica taxidermy animals around the cafe. It's a renovated old shophouse that's become an incredibly inviting place to sit.

The name comes from local history. Ha Tien is a port town in southern Vietnam. In the early Rattanakosin period, this area was home to Vietnamese people who had fled war in Hue and settled across Phra Nakhon and Thonburi. They called this area Ha Tien because the landscape was similar, and over time the name shifted to Tha Tien, as it's known today.

The cafe's standout spot, in our opinion, is the table and chairs at the very back, in front of an antique cabinet and taxidermy animals. This corner has a slightly English country-house feel, with the added touch of a spiral iron staircase leading up to the third floor. It's the signature photo spot and a must for everyone.

There's a good choice of drinks, including tea, coffee and Italian sodas, plus a wide range of cakes that are tasty and look great. We ordered the lemon cake, which looks bright and cheerful and tastes refreshingly tangy, and balanced it with a matcha green tea. So good. There's also chocolate cake topped with brownie: filling, worth it and very satisfying.

Ha Tien Cafe is another interesting cafe. If you come to taste the food and take in the atmosphere, we promise you'll leave feeling good. On Saturdays and Sundays it gets especially busy, so you may have to queue for a while.
