Hi everyone! Today Meeting Point is taking you to try something bold, spicy and seriously tasty.
Hungry in the evening but can't decide what to eat? If you want food that's fiery enough to make your tongue tingle, head to Mala Style Mai at Tao Poon Market. There are more than 30 items to pick from, and the stall is easy to reach: get off the MRT Purple Line at Tao Poon station and you're practically there. Best of all, it's cheap. We're pretty sure that once you try the mala here, you'll be back for another round.
Grilled pork belly
First up is grilled pork belly, a classic every mala stall has. Here it's the signature best seller and a must-try. It isn't grilled dry and charred; it comes out soft and juicy and very hard to resist. The other star is bacon-wrapped enoki mushrooms. If you want to try either one, go early, because both sell out fast.

There's a lot to choose from here, with more than 30 items on the menu.

The rest of the menu is good too. We ordered hot dogs (red sausages) grilled just right, not burnt and with no bitter taste, plus grilled fresh shiitake mushrooms, which we strongly recommend. They're better than you'd expect: fragrant, tender and best eaten hot, brushed with sauce and dusted with numbing spice.

And there's more. The grilled chicken tenderloin is soft and juicy, not tough at all. If you eat clean and you're tired of chicken breast, try this instead and enjoy it guilt-free. Wondering if it's all grilled meat? Not at all: there are vegetables like okra, broccoli and mushrooms, and for meatball fans there are cheese balls with gooey melted cheese inside.
If you can't handle much heat, you can choose from three spice levels. Every stick is 10 baht, one price for everything. Because it's this cheap, things sell out quickly, so go early. If you'd rather not travel or aren't sure how to get there, you can also order through delivery.
