Hungry? Come to Mae Tuam and sort it all in one place.
Ayutthaya town has loads of boat noodle shops; boat noodles are practically the city's signature dish. Mae Tuam is always packed, with cars lined up along the road out front, which is one reason we stopped here.

Here are the house specialties you have to order.

Leng saep (spicy pork bone soup)
The pork bones are huge, the broth is zingy and punchy, and the meat is tender, with plenty of it. Eat it with hot steamed rice and it's perfect. You'll happily sip the whole bowl.

Pork satay
Rich, tender pork satay, freshly grilled and easy to keep eating, with the house dipping sauce and cucumber relish (ajad) to cut the richness. Ten sticks disappeared fast.

Hoi jor (crab rolls)
The portion is generous and the filling is dense. Great on their own or with rice; you'll be very full.

Kaprao dishes
Whether you choose shrimp, minced pork or beef, the holy basil stir-fry is rich and flavorful, not too spicy and nicely balanced.

The menu is very long. Here's some of what's on it (prices in baht):
- Pork noodles: regular 20 / special 40
- Beef noodles: regular 30 / special 50
