Today Meeting Point is taking you for some spicy food we know you will love. It is the kind of food Thai people adore, and probably a favorite of many of you too. Ready? We are heading to Nonthaburi Pier, and the flavor is guaranteed.

Non Tum Laek is a famous, long-established som tum shop at Nonthaburi Pier. The papaya salads are fiery and bold, there are more than 50 dishes, and it has been at the pier for over 20 years. Anyone passing through Nonthaburi Pier has to stop here, or it does not really count as a visit.
The signature is the som tum, made here for more than 20 years with a focus on seafood: shrimp, crab, shellfish and squid. There are many must-try dishes, including seafood som tum and the house signature, a spicy seafood soup that hits like som tum but is packed with seafood and full of bold flavor.
There are plenty of non-som tum dishes too, such as the newer German pork knuckle. Khun Nui, the owner, says that since it was added, everyone who eats at Non Tum Laek orders it, and paired with the som tum the flavors go perfectly together. There are also popular dishes like marinated raw crab with roe and deep-fried sea bass with fish sauce.

Here is what we ate today:
Grilled tilapia
So good. The fish is not fishy at all and comes with its own dipping sauce. Eaten with rice noodles, it is excellent.

Thai som tum with salted egg
It comes with a really big salted egg, and the flavor is nicely zingy.

Fried squid roe
Rich and savory, with a pleasantly chewy texture you cannot stop eating.

Grilled pork
Very tender pork, dipped in jaew sauce and eaten with sticky rice. A winner.
Moo khluk foon
If you have never tried it, we recommend it. It has the crunch of toasted rice powder, which is where the name, pork dusted in powder, comes from.
If you are craving fiery som tum, fresh seafood and a menu of more than 50 dishes, head to Non Tum Laek. If you would rather stay home, they deliver too: just add the shop on LINE at @nont, check the Non Tum Laek Facebook page for details, or order through Grab, Foodpanda or LINE MAN. Very convenient.
Nonthaburi Pier is also packed with great food, from the famous Kao Lao Muang Non and Uan Phom miang with grilled fish to Mae Nai's Thai cupcakes, Non Bakery (famous éclairs and filled buns) and Pang Pang 85 Degrees (buns stuffed with generous fillings), and many more than we can list. But this is the spicy spot we wanted to share: if you go to Nonthaburi Pier without trying it, you have not really been.
