Sushiro – Japanese Conveyor Belt Sushi at Central Rama 9, Bangkok 1

Sushiro is our go-to every time we visit Japan. It's not too expensive and the quality is excellent. Now there are several branches in Thailand, and they keep the quality very well – every ingredient is fresh. Our favorites are salmon, anago (sea eel), tsubugai (whelk) and soy-marinated tuna.

There's a huge variety on the menu – it's like bringing the seas of Japan to Thailand. New items to try include buri (yellowtail), madai (sea bream), kanpachi (amberjack) and hamachi, and the highlight is fresh chutoro (medium-fatty tuna). All of these use ingredients flown in fresh directly from Japan and served right away. Matcha green tea powder is placed on each table near the hot-water tap so you can make your own for free. If you want other drinks, order through the tablet and staff will bring a glass to your table. Sushi is priced by plate color: red 40 baht, blue 60 baht, gold 80 baht and black 120 baht, excluding a 10% service charge.
