Once you're tired from shopping, your legs ache and your stomach is growling, Meeting Point is taking everyone to eat at Orathai Seafood in Wang Lang. Many of you have probably heard of Orathai Sushi Wang Lang, which lots of people have tried, with reviews both good and bad. Today we decided to try something new that's more suited to Thai tastes. Orathai Seafood is inside Wang Lang Market and easy to find. The shop used to sell sushi, and when it opened a new branch it switched to seafood.

If you love spicy, bold, zingy food, we recommend Orathai Seafood – it's a must-try, and it's cheaper than you'd think. The food tastes good and portions are big for the price. It's both a som tam (papaya salad) and seafood shop, and the food is cleanly prepared. Spicy recommendations include grilled pork neck salad, fried chicken, grilled prawns and glass noodle salad. They also have tom yum seafood noodles, served either in a hot pot or in a bowl. There's lots of choice – you won't be disappointed.

Let's look at the dishes Meeting Point tried.

Som tam with crab and pla ra – 40 baht

A big portion of papaya salad loaded with ingredients. Personally, we liked that it doesn't smell strong – the pla ra (fermented fish) aroma isn't pungent at all, so even people who don't like pla ra can happily eat it. Other places usually have a strong smell, but not here.

Grilled pork neck salad

Fragrant with toasted rice powder and freshly tossed. The grilled pork is aromatic with spices and nicely marinated. It's not too spicy, and the dressing has just the right kick.

Glass noodle salad

This one didn't quite hit the spot for us (just our personal opinion), because the dressing was a bit thin, so the glass noodles went soggy quickly. But it still goes well with hot steamed rice.

Fried chicken

You get 4 pieces of upper wing. They're well fried, though the wing tips can be a little salty – eaten with the other dishes, it balances out.

These are just a few of the dishes on the menu that we tried. If you get the chance to visit Wang Lang Market, we recommend it.

We suggest coming to Wang Lang Market around noon or in the afternoon, when it gets lively and many shops are open. There's so much food that you couldn't try it all in a day, plus all kinds of goods for sale. If you get bored, you can easily take the cross-river ferry to stroll around the Sanam Luang side, or hop on the Chao Phraya Express Boat to go elsewhere. That makes Wang Lang Market a really great place to visit.
