Half a century of yentafo

If you are in the Giant Swing area, do not miss Nai Uan Yentafo. The recipe has been handed down through the generations to Nai Uan, Pornchai Trakulkitcharoen, who developed it into a noodle soup with small meatballs. The highlight is how complete each bowl is: fish balls, fried prawn balls, fish cake, crispy fried tofu, minced pork, crispy wontons, blood jelly and crispy squid. The toppings really are as generous as Nai Uan promises. The balls are all made in-house with no flour and no preservatives, fresh every day. The fish balls are made from three kinds of fish, Spanish mackerel, hairtail and yellowtail, mixed with seasoning and then boiled.

What we ate

Today we had yentafo with minced pork (60 baht), the dish we order every time. The bowl is packed with toppings and seasoned so boldly that you hardly need to add anything. The flavour goes perfectly with the noodles and toppings.

So what is in the bowl? Minced pork, fish balls, fish cake, fried tofu, fried wontons, prawn balls, blood jelly and squid. There is a wide choice of noodles too: thin rice noodles, wide rice noodles, egg noodles, rice vermicelli and glass noodles. You really have to try it.
