Today is for all you noodle lovers. Meeting Point took you to try a delicious duck noodle cart at Pak Khlong. It's in front of Krungthai Bank by the canal, with a rich broth you have to try.
If you walk around the flower market at Pak Khlong Talat in the late afternoon, you'll see a small duck noodle stall in front of Krungthai Bank. Every time we walked past, the smell of the broth stayed with us. So today we finally stopped to try it.
Here's what we had.
Duck noodles
The broth is rich and very satisfying. You can season it to taste, but it's already good as is. The highlight is the braised duck tendon, deboned, soft with a little crunch. We loved it. The uncle is generous with the duck meat too, which is tender and has no gamey smell. The blood cubes are cut small but are soft and tasty.
Pork ball noodles
It's not the same broth as the duck noodles, but the clear soup is just as rich. There's lots of minced pork and plenty of pork balls. The pork balls are excellent, with no flour filler that we could taste. We're not sure if they're made in-house, but they're bouncy, dense and very moreish.
Water and ice are free here, self-serve, so help yourself. It's a humble street cart, but the food is good. After a long walk, resting with a tasty bowl of noodles makes it even better, right?
If you want to try it, come a bit later in the afternoon, from about 4pm. By then the uncle has everything set up, and the sun isn't as harsh, so you can sit and eat comfortably. Or come for an early dinner by the canal, watch the traffic go by, then walk off your meal at Yodpiman Market.
